Very Sheltered Housing
What is Very Sheltered Housing?
The aim of very
sheltered housing is to provide older people
with their own apartments so that they can continue
living independently within their own homes with any
care and support they need coming directly to them.
These apartments form part of a complex,
each having communal facilities such as a restaurant
and activity rooms. This means that there's always time
to socialise.
The apartments have been designed
to a high specification and promote comfortable living.
Within every very sheltered apartment
there is an alarm linked to a 24 hour control centre,
so an added peace of mind, that help is always at hand.
The
Benefits
Very sheltered housing is ideal for individuals who
sometimes require help with daily living but don't require
the type of medical care provided in traditional nursing
homes. An assisted living apartment in Sycamore Court
ensures individuals dignity, privacy and independence
are maintained but leaves you with the peace of mind
that help is at hand at any time.
Sycamore Court has 31 two-bedroom
and 4 one-bedroom apartments of varying size and design.
If you are looking to buy a property at Sycamore Court,
please visit our website regularly as we will have details
of all properties that are currently available.
The Court, which was built in 1992,
is situated near the centre of the attractive little
town of Oxted in Surrey. It is built around a pleasant
landscaped courtyard with car parking for Owners, Staff
and visitors.

Our Very Sheltered Housing homes
have 35 totally self-contained apartments arranged on
three floors. These comfortable apartments are easily
accessible by two lifts as well as stairs. In addition,
there are communal facilities on the ground floor: a
dining room, a very attractive lounge and a hobbies
room. On the first floor there is a well equipped guest
suite for visitors to the Court.
Our Very Sheltered Housing homes
are conveniently situated within easy walking distance
of supermarkets, shops, post office, banks, leisure
centre, cinema, health centre and dental practices.
Bus stops are close by as is the railway station which
operates trains to East Croydon, London and East Grinstead.
The level of staffing and the services
provided at our Very Sheltered Housing are greater
than found in many other retirement developments. There
is a Manager, who works partly at the Court and partly
from home, to ensure the smooth administration of the
Court.
Our Very Sheltered Housing also
have a team of House Managers, one of whom is in the
Court twenty-four hours a day. They supervise the work
of a team of Housekeeping Assistants who keep the Court
and apartments in good order.
The Court has a comfortable dining
room which offers a very good, reasonably priced, three
course lunch every day of the year for those who wish
to have it. Meals can also be taken to apartments for
Owners who are unwell.
A handyman comes in once a week to undertake repairs
and maintenance both in the Court and in the apartments.
Our Very Sheltered Housing are
not a residential care home or a nursing home but a
place for relatively fit and active people. Its aim
is to assist independent living, provide security and
remove some of the chores of running a household.
Apartments at our Very Sheltered Housing are cleaned weekly, there is a laundry
and ironing service if required and, by arrangement,
staff will undertake additional domestic services such
as shopping. To make life even easier we also have a
visiting chiropodist, hairdresser, fishmonger and mobile
library.
