Sycamore Court is a development of privately owned retirement apartments and our aim is to help active older people retain enjoyable independence by providing services such as cleaning, laundry and a midday meal each day if required.

We have a team of excellent staff who provide support and security 24 hours a day and they also remove some of the chores of running a household allowing those who live in the Court to enjoy their retirements to the full.

We understand there is a view that older people should remain in their own homes as long as possible and, while this may be good for some, for others it can be very lonely. All this is complemented by the support of a team of friendly, highly trained, dedicated and knowledgeable professional staff who are passionate about providing the very best possible standard of care.

In order to cover the costs of running the Court, there is a Service Charge. This is payable monthly by Standing Order and covers the following:

  • staff wages
  • communal utility bills
  • cleaning of the apartments and communal areas
  • maintenance of the building and equipment
  • monthly external window cleaning (of Court and apartments),
  • garden maintenance
  • maintenance of lifts/fire alarm/24 hour alarm call system
  • buildings insurance, public and employers’ liability insurance and communal contents insurance
  • household supplies
  • Court telephone and office expenses
  • accountancy expenses
  • minor repairs and equipment costs

The Service Charge is reviewed each year by the Board and adjusted as necessary in order to meet anticipated expenditure. The budget and proposed Service Charge are presented each January to the Owners for consideration and acceptance.
